STREET MEDIA GROUP BRING WORLD POKER TOUR™ "WPT POKER
CORNER" TO BROADCAST RADIO
Daily Feature with David Stein Created to Serve Avid
and Casual Poker Fans Alike
New York, NY – March 28, 2005 -- United
Stations Radio Networks, Inc. (USRN), an industry leader in
original network programming, today announced it has entered
into an agreement with 4th Street Media Group, LLC to syndicate
the WPT Poker Corner to broadcast radio stations. The short-form
feature was created by 4thStreet through an exclusive licensing
agreement with The World Poker Tour™. United Stations
will handle all affiliate relations and ad sales functions
for the daily (Monday through Friday) feature. USRN’s
EVP/Programming, Andy Denemark, made the announcement at the
company’s New York headquarters.
The WPT Poker Corner is a 60-second audio feature with tips
and trivia about the nation’s favorite card game. The
feature is intended to air as a five-day-a-week strip, and
it includes a wide range of information pertaining to the
current national craze surrounding Poker, particularly the
well-known game of Texas Hold ‘Em. Content for the series
will include a range of material such as strategy for playing,
the latest tournament news, player profiles, how to enter
tournaments, poker etiquette, poker book reviews, poker magazines,
poker news and life on the World Poker Tour as well as interviews
with players and commentators.
The host of the WPT Poker Corner is broadcaster, writer and
poker aficionado David Stein. Stein began his career in the
suburbs of Philadelphia as a stand-up comedian where he still
owns one of the longest running comedy clubs in the country,
David Stein's Reading Comedy Outlet, in Reading, Pennsylvania.
After ten years at heritage rocker Y-102 FM, David moved into
Sports Radio where he is currently heard broadcasting on weekends
to a national radio audience on Fox Sports Radio. Stein also
hosted a radio program for STUFF Magazine, is an author and
is also the creator and host of television’s “It’s
Funnier That Way.”
“I’m ‘All-In,’” said 4thStreet
Media Group President Dan Forth. USRN is a natural partner
to helm our broadcast radio syndication effort for the WPT
Poker Corner. Just like the game that has taken the nation
by storm, this is a no-limit opportunity for radio.”
Denemark added, “We’re all about bringing great
talent and great brands to our affiliates, and there’s
nothing hotter right now than Poker and the World Poker Tour.
It’s very exciting when you know there’s an appetite
for something and then you find the right partnership that
allows you to deliver what the marketplace wants. This is
one of those situations.”
